For Brenda's birthday we went to Dismaland, the clue is in the name, a spoof theme park that is truly depressing, bleak, freakish, desolate and sited within the walls of a derelict seafront lido! About 60 "Artists" including Banksy got together to put on this warped vision of the so called 'happiest place on earth' at Weston-super-Mare or as known by the locals Weston-super-Nightmare. Dismaland is the complete opposite to anything Disney. It's messy, a health and safety disaster zone. it's cynical, it's political, the "cast" complete with big ears are miserable, rude, scruffy, moan at you, tell you off for smiling, grimace all day long & throw objects at you!
On entering the site we had to walk through airport style scanners made of cardboard. Then a member of "security" attempted to hand Brenda a little folded up paper parcel like she had "scored a fix" drug style! The attraction is utterly awful, dismal, deeply unsettling but unforgettable & grimly hilarious.
