The New Forest is in Hampshire with borders onto Wiltshire and Dorset. It was founded by William !st commonly known as William the Conqueror in 1079, he's the bloke that invaded the UK in 1066 in Hastings. The area was given to the people known as commoners who still have the same rights, which go back 900 years, to graze cattle, ponies and pigs, not goats though.
