A trip to the city of London (where else) took us to the Ex HQ of the Midland Bank. Now a Hotel called "The Ned" has 250 rooms, 10 Restaurants and lord knows what else. Ned is apparently what Sir Edwin Lutyens preferred to be called

After coffee we went on to the Postal Museum near Mount Pleasant one of the largest sorting offices covering an awful lot of London's post.

A trip on the historic Mail Rail which back in the day transferred mail between Paddington (West London) and Whitechapel (East London) sorting offices beating road traffic easily
Following a good day in the museum we went on to BBC Broadcasting House for a drink and meal in the BBC club Then a walk down Carnaby Street, Gold Square, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalger Square and Charing Cross station.
A couple of days later we went to Canary Wharf in East London, built on what was West India Docks (developed 1746-1809) on the Isle of Dogs beside the Thames and Opposite Greenwich, the docks were closed in 1980.
Nobody knows how the Isle of Dogs got its name, there are many theories but probably the most popular is that Henry VIII (b 1491 d 1547) kept his hunting dogs in an area called West Ferry Circus on the Isle of Dogs.
